Abstract

The bathimetric and sedimentologic analysis of the Colombian Pacific continent al shelf have been used to know the relationship between the morphoog y and the of the superficial sediment s distribution The sedimentary distribution is the result of the ocean currents which erodes the submarine grooves and then distributes these materials in the shelf, mixing up with the river's sediments. The present tectonic is responsible of all the morphologic characteristics such as submarines canyons, grooves, old mouths of river, change of river's course, very steep shelf o absence of shelf.
