Abstract

The multibeam echo sounders acquired by the General Directorate Martina for the high resolution bathymetric reconnaissance of Colombian waters, were used in image mode (backscatter) in order to compare them with lateral scan sonar images at different transmission frequencies, with the object of detecting anomalies of a cultural nature in the bay of Cartagena. The cultural anomalies that are related to shipwrecks were characterized in order to continue with the evaluation and identification process.
