Abstract

The survey, made in four stations in Hojas Blancas zone (Nariño), evalúate the biomass production of mangrove forest with the litter tramps methods. In this paper the valúes obtained are compared with the existent data for Tumaco bight. Boca Grande, Cabo Manglares, Rosario River and other Colombian Pacific regions (Buenaventura, Guapi and Utría bight) and others of the world. The mangrove of Hojas Blancas zone are sepárate in two groups acording with the botanical composition 1. Pelliciera rhizophorae forest situated on station III and 2. mixed forest with Rhizophora spp, Avicennia germinans and Mora megistosperma but previaling Rhizophora spp. on the stations I, II and IV. On the P. rhizophorae zone (station III) The average dry weight by month was 39.00 g/m^2/month, In the mixed forest zone it was 155.75 g/m^2/month (station II). The total annual productivity was 6.48 Ton/Ha/year and the remaining stations shown an average of 10.09 Ton/Ha/year. The firts is the lowest valve recordded in the Pacific Ocean mangrove. In the mangrove of mixed forest (statios I, II y IV) was observed the productivity increase in august and september. No significativo correlations was found between litter production and meteorológical parameters.
