Abstract

In this paper was evalúate the adjustment process for fillings and invasions in the zones of low tide of the island of Cascajal, Buenaventura Valle del Cauca, for that which was determines in digital form the changes of positions and configuration of the coastline and limit of zones constructed during the last 40 years, starting from the analysis of aerophotography and of the cartography of the Geographical Institute Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) of the year 1998. The information was process in the GIS CARIS and ERDAS Imagine, where was determine quantitative the variation of the coastline, limit of construction, the zone of fillings and invasión of the low tide sectors. For the realization of this study four mosaics aerophotography was generated starting from 31 aerophotography taken by IGAC to different scales and years, each one of which it was georeferenced in the same system of coordinates that the cartography bases, these mosaics allowed to observe and to digitize thechanges suffered in the Island of Cascajal in the years 1965, 1979, 1989 and 1998, determining invasions and fillings was made mainly in low tide areas in the sectors of the harbor zone, the park 'Néstor Urbano Tenorio' and some streets, in the western area of the island of Cascajal.
