Abstract
The work comprehends the analisys of temperature and salinity over an area of the Colombian Caribbean, to determine the presence of water masses, using the information collected during the cruise Oceano II. The vertical distribution of temperatura, salinity and SIGMA T is studied, in relation with the percentual distribution of water masses obtained through a mixing triangle, constructed from the thermohaline indices propasad by Mamayev 0.1., 1975. These analisys are also relatad to vertical stability and salt turbulent difussion analisys. The ressults of the study indicate the existance of three masses of water and also that the present upwellings in the Guajira regíon belong lo Deep Waters of the North Atlantic (APAN). The waters located between 100 and 400 meters to Central North Atlantic Waters (ACAN) and the 500 meters depth waters are alternated by Antartic lntermediate Water (AIAN) and Deep North Atlantic Waters (APAN).
