Abstract

In arder to identify three useful proposals of territorial arrangement for Tumaco Urban zone an academic-theoric exercise was performed. The first step was the characterization and diagnosis of the biophysical environment developed by means of the analysis of availab!e information. Then the proposals were submitted to direct and indirect users for discussion. Once approved the proposals were stated as projects to be presented in terms of financial requirements to government and prívate institutions. The IMCZ process always was leaded by lntegrated Coastal Zone Management Committee. The chosen proposals were 1) El Morro lsland: Ordering and tourist development of the beach 2) Viciosa lsland: ECOPARQUE project, by Future solution of the e/ea red lands 3) Urban continental zones: ldentify areas to future urban expansion of Tumaco.
