Abstract

We would like to thank each of the people who left an important legacy of knowledge for the country during their time at the CCCP, such as those who made possible the first edition of the book Oceanographic Compilation of the Colombian Pacific Basin, published in 2002. Thanks are due to each of the CCCP researchers who led the production of the chapters, as well as those who enhanced the chapters with their participation. Special recognition is given to the researcher Ana Lucía Caicedo Laurido, for envisaging, creating and promoting this important initiative to update the state of the art, and contribute to the understanding of the CPB, while advocating for the importance of marine scientific research in the country. The roles of Lieutenant Commander Diego Fernando Salguero Londoño and Lieutenant Manuel Alejandro Gutiérrez Moreno are noteworthy, for promoting and making this publication a reality, in synergy with the professionalism of the editor Angélica María Castrillón Gálvez, from the Strategic Communications Department (Acoes) of the General Maritime Directorate.
