Abstract

The CCCP continué with their program of observation of alteration on oceanographic conditions of the Nariño Pacific waters, have made studies for prediction of the eventual development of El Niño phenemenon. The monthly sampling were performed on station localized at ten miles fron Tumaco, in marcation 270o, for taking montly dates of salinity and temperature. Furthermore, samplings were taken for determination of chlorophyl levels and groups of phytoplancton presents in tbe station. These dates were complemented with daily registers of superficial temperature (STM) and sea mid level (LMS) of a station on the wharf of CCCP. The results show that during 1989 the Oceanographics conditions displayed signifyed negative anomalies from february-march but they tend to normalize to april; positive anomalies present from september-october. In 1990 normal characteristics were presented with a TSM oscillating around of their multiannual monthly averages, without so significative positive anomalies and refusing any alteration related to what were presuposed by the occurence of tbe phenomenon. Other ways, conditions in 1991 were verycbangeable and seemed to indicate tbe growth of a moderate El Niño phenomenon, more over to tbe end of tbe year were clear inereasings are appreciated in TSM and NMM in concordance witb tbe presupositions world wide. Tbose alterations persisted until January/1992.
