Abstract
The results obtained in sorne pollution studies carried out in 1992 and 1993, are show and evaluated. The main purpose of this survey was to detect the presence of organochlorine compounds in marine sediments and biota in difierent regions of the Colombian Pacific coast. Finally colud detect DDTs, ALDRIN, ENDRIN, HEPTACHLOR and DIELDRIN. The analytical procedure consists of 3 phases, i.e., Extraction, Clean up and Analysis through Capillary Gas Chromatography with electron capture detection. The levels of organochlorines in biota, are high; concentration ranges were asjollows: Sum of DDTs, from not detected to 566.5 ng/gr; Aldrin, from not detected to 3.22 ng/gr; Heptachlor, from not detected to 3.2 ng/gr; Lindane from not detected to 1.86 ng/gr and smaller values for these compounds in sediments were detected; DDTs concentrations range from not detected levels to 147.16 ng/gr.
