Abstract
The sea level at a given moment is determined by the astronomical tide and meteorological tide due to pressure and wind. In the present work, from the analysis separately of these two variables, have been determined the average and extremal regimes of the sea level for Buenaverntura Bay. The methodology applied includes, by a side the use of the harmonio analysis for the astronomical tide and indirect methods of simulation, based on techniques of Monte Cario for the meteorological tide. This have allowed to obtain lineal fits in a Gumbel probability paper, with a very good fit (R2 > 0.95), of the distribution functions for the average and extremal regimes of the sea level with its 90% confidence intervals.
