Abstract
In the present work the numerical model H2D is used for the temporal and espacial description of the currents and the tide wave propagation the Buenaventura bay. The followed methodology started model was calibrated of some hydrodynamic variables involved in the study, with which the numerical model was calibrated, obtaining the values of Chezy-coefficient and eddy viscosity values that fit better to the real conditions of sea levels and currents. With the calibrated model, the results for the currents in different sectors of the study were and were described the transformation of the tide wave, by effect of the contours, in the interior of the estuary. The amplitude of the tide towards the interior of the bay increased in a 10% and a delay in 20 minutes appears for the moments of high tide and low tide, with respect to the behavior presented at the Bocana and Soldado point sectors.
