Abstract

This work was done by the CIOH, during 1991, as part of the activities of the program, "Monitoring the Pollution in the Colombian Caribbean: OIL, Pesticides and Solid Folating Wasters", financied by the Dirección General Marítima since 1985, with the support of nacional entities as COLCIENCIAS, and internationals as the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Comission (COI), the United Nations Program for the Enviroment (UNDP) and the Organization of American Satates (OAS). The results of the study, show the intensive use of pesticides in the main hidrographical basins of Colombia, with special emphais in the Caribbean and specially in the rice culture region adyacent to the Ciénaga de la Virgen.
