Abstract
Although the definition that has been given to artisanal fishing through Decree 2256 of 1991 is presented as an activity, individual or group, which is carried out with equipment typical of a "small-scale productive activity" and through "systems, gear and minor methods ”of fishing. We consider that artisanal fishing has, as work and trade, a much deeper knowledge that not only allows these communities to survive in their territory, but also to relate to a space and beings through the materiality that they have developed and it is constituted as a universe of senses. In this way, we find in artisanal fishing a polyphonic strategy through which the communities have structured their experiences and persistence, overcoming the uncertainties that the physical and socio-historical environments of the Colombian Pacific have imposed on them.
